This is a research project largely inspired by the Ukrainian, Russian, and Belarusian emigrant newspapers published in the 1st half of the 20th century in Europe. The work is composed of a short text about the history of the so-called White Émigrés, a review of publications obtained from Prague archives as well as an analysis of the typography used in them and that used in the early 20th century in Russia. The author of the project attempts to get an understanding of the emigrants’ patterns of preserving their identity and originality. On the basis of his studies, he developed a typeface alluding to the historical examples to create a comprehensible image of Ukrainian, Russian, and Belarusian emigration as a cultural phenomenon in the context of the Western world.
